What is Travel?

Traveling is part fun and part work! In order to have a great time you need to do a lot of planning. You have all the same basic needs when you travel that you do at home. You need to eat, sleep somewhere, and get around. There are a lot of details just GETTING to your destination. Will you take an airplane or drive? Do they use the same money as you do? Are there any diseases you need to be extra cautious of? Do you have a place to stay? Do you speak the language?

"Tourism" is the industry that caters to people who travel. When you fly somewhere, the airline is a part of the tourist industry. So is the airport restaurant you stopped at to buy a cheeseburger. Did you take a cab from the airport to your hotel? Tourism.

There are a lot of ways to get somewhere. If you are travelling nearby you might drive, or take a bus. If you are going on a longer trip you will probably fly, or perhaps enjoy a cruise ship or boat. If you are on a holiday with lots of time, maybe you'll ride in an RV Trailer. There are a lot of businesses catering to your travel needs.
